Full list of tuition free universities and colleges in Europe (Sweden, Norway and Finland).

A number of universities and colleges in Europe used to offer tuition free universities admission for international students to study in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany and Denmark. However, the tuition free policy has changed in some countries over the past few years, which have resulted to the discontinuation of tuition-free universities in such countries.

For tuition free education in Sweden, the Swedish Government passed a bill in 2011 to introduce Tuition and admission fees for non-EU/International Students, to be compensated with a generous number of scholarships based on students needs and academic merit.

In Finland, if you are from outside the EU/EEA area, you are required to pay tuition fees for bachelor’s and master’s-level programmes which are taught in English.

Tuition Free Universities in Sweden (no-longer applicable for non-EU international students)

For Universities and Colleges in Sweden, tuition fees apply to students who are not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland. The fees apply only to bachelor’s and master’s programs and courses, while PhD programs are tuition-free. Universities set their own fees, and these vary between SEK 80,000–140,000 per academic year for most subjects. The fee for the Universityadmissions.se application to Swedish universities and colleges for fee paying students has been set to SEK 900.

Tuition Free Universities in Finland

If you are from outside the EU/EEA area, you required to pay tuition fees for bachelor’s and master’s level programmes which are taught in English. Some exceptions may apply. If you are uncertain what the fees are, check in the Studyinfo.fi programme description or from the university you are applying to.

Remember that if you are required to pay tuition fees, you are also eligible to apply for the institution’s scholarships.
