Youth4Policy Fellowship Programme 2019 for Young Ugandans

Are you a highly motivated young professional interested in public policy research and analysis? Are you keen to pursue a rigorous high-quality research through a structured public policy training, mentorship and professional development programme? Do you want to join a growing network of emerging young public policy leaders? Then Youth4Policy is for you!

About the Award: Youth4Policy is a joint initiative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Centre for Development Alternatives targeting young leaders with a demonstrated motivation to shape the public policy discourse in Uganda and influence policy decision-makers.

The comprehensive program consists of multiple seminars, workshops as well as public policy dialogues over a 6 month period.

Each Youth4Policy Fellow will independently carry out research on a current Ugandan policy challenge according to their interests and expertise.

Fellows will then publish their research in the form of policy briefs as well as in formats such as blog articles and video clips.

Each Youth4Policy Fellow will receive mentoring from a selected expert in the fields of policy analysis and research. After successfully completing their training,

Youth4Policy Fellows become part of an alumni network of driven and strong young voices contributing to the public debates on Ugandan policy challenges.

Type: Fellowship (Professional)

Eligibility: 

  • – Ugandan citizens
  • – Under 35 years old
  • – Strong undergraduate or graduate degree
  • – Professional experience in academia, civil service, politics or related areas
  • – Demonstrated interest in policy and research
  • – Highly analytical research and lateral thinking skills
  • – Strong oral and written communication skills
  • – Ability to work independently and in small teams

Value of Award: Y4P partners shall meet the training, mentorship and professional development costs including accommodations, meals, and transportation during the duration of the Program. Applicants may be requested to meet costs related to reading and reference materials.

How to Apply: Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria above must submit the underlisted documents to fellowship@youth4policy.org not later than 31stMarch 2019

Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we take our eligibility and selection criteria very seriously. Only applications that meet the eligibility criteria will be reviewed and promising candidates shall be invited for a personal interview in April 2019.
