LSHTM Research Fellowship in Climate Change, Agriculture and Nutrition 2019 – The Gambia

The Nutrition Group in the Department of Population Health wishes to appoint a Research Fellow to research agricultural adaptations to climate change in The Gambia and their consequences for future nutrition and health.

About the Award: This new post will be working on the Food System Adaptations in Changing Environments in Africa Project (FACE-Africa) led by Dr Rosie Green and Dr Pauline Scheelbeek at LSHTM and will be required to work closely with other Research Fellows in Mali (based at ICRISAT) and The Gambia (MRC Unit) as well as other project partners.  The successful applicant will be expected to lead the development of an integrated database for nutrition, agriculture, health and environment in The Gambia, conduct land use mapping and future scenario modelling, and produce health impact models.

Eligibility: Successful candidates will require a doctoral degree in a nutrition, agriculture, environmental science, epidemiology, mathematics, or other relevant field) and who have significant experience of creating, managing and analysing large datasets as well as mathematical modelling. You must be confident undertaking literature reviews and critically appraising evidence. Some experience of working across more than one of the desired disciplines would be an advantage. Value of Award: Salary: £39,304 per annum, inclusive.

Duration of Programme: The post is full-time and funded until 1 September 2021.
