AKE International is recruiting for the position of Contracted Researcher – sub-Saharan Africa.

The position will involve providing research and analytical support to the sub-Saharan Africa desk. Applicants should have good knowledge of political, economic and security issues affecting the sub-Saharan Africa region, and should be able to commit to 3 days per week, for a minimum period of 3 months. Contracts will be extended beyond the initial three-month period where suitable to both parties.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:

  • Contributing to AKE’s Daily Risk Updates.
  • Provision of analytical intelligence for a range of public and private sector clients.
  • Provision of internal company reports and briefings.
  • Assistance in updating AKE’s online country intelligence platform.
  • Assistance in political risk consulting projects.
  • Writing incident reports on political violence in the sub-Saharan Africa region.

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of political, economic and security issues in the sub-Saharan Africa region, with expertise in West Africa preferred.
  • Hold or be currently studying for a Master’s degree in a relevant subject (e.g international relations, international security, international development).
  • A good understanding of macroeconomics.
  • Excellent English skills and ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in French preferred.
  • Be able to commit to 3 days per week, 7 hours per day.

Researcher (Middle East North Africa)

AKE International is recruiting for the position of Contracted Researcher – MENA.

The position will involve providing research and analytical support to the MENA desk. Applicants should have a knowledge of political, economic and security issues affecting the MENA region, and should be able to commit to 3 days per week, for a minimum period of 3 months. Contracts will be extended beyond the initial three-month period where suitable to both parties.

  • Provision of regional or specialised internal company reports and briefings.
  • Assistance in updating AKE’s online country intelligence platform.
  • Assistance in political risk consulting projects.
  • Writing incident reports on political violence in the MENA region.

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of political, economic and security issues in the MENA region, with expertise in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and/ or Iran particularly.
  • Hold or be currently studying for a Masters’ degree in a relevant subject (e.g international relations, international security, international development, Middle Eastern Politics).
  • Proficiency in at least one regional language.
  • Excellent English skills and ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
  • Be able to commit to 3 days per week, 7 hours per day, of which one should be in London, UK.
  • Candidates should have the right to work in the UK.
