How can I study abroad for free?

Of course, there are ways to study abroad for free. Students often think that one semester or one year abroad is expensive. In many ways, it is, especially for those enrolling in programs that involve high-paying home colleges or “middleman” agencies. To this end, this article introduces a free study abroad guide to study for free (overseas study scholarship).

Here are a few promising steps you can take to study abroad for free.

1. Pick a suitable program

The first step toward studying abroad for free is quite straightforward: choosing a program that is realistic with your budget. Study abroad programs range from unreasonably expensive to nearly fully funded, so narrowing your options down from the get-go is important. Once you have your eyes on a study abroad program that fits your ideal mold employing location, academics, timing, and cost, then you can get down to the real work.

2. Apply for Scholarships

Regardless of your financial situation, no matter where you come from, you can find a scholarship that fits your situation and is more likely to take a step closer to studying abroad. You can expect to find both scholarships and grants listed in our Scholarship Directory. Fully-funded scholarships for study abroad are competitive—and the applications fairly intense—but they’re also a surefire way of getting closer to studying abroad for free.

3. Find a Summer Job

Additionally, there’s working with your own two hands. Even if you take advantage of all these other opportunities, picking up a part-time job to supplement your studies shows your potential funders that you are also doing everything possible in your arsenal to raise the money to make your studies abroad happen.

List Engineering branches to study Abroad

There are three main engineering disciplines that students can major in. They include civil engineering, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering.

1. Civil engineering

Civil engineering deals with naturally constructed structures, including bridges, buildings, roads, and other infrastructure projects.  It is also known as one of the oldest engineering firms. Civil engineers are employed in both the private and public sectors, and graduates work in construction and engineering firms in the private sector and government agencies in the public sector.

2. Chemical engineering

It combines key principles of engineering to apply in the physical sciences such as chemistry and biology. Chemical engineers often manage the engineering work of manufacturing plants, create new machines for the chemical industry, and develop new products using compounds that are favorable to the public.  Chemical engineers are often employed by pharmaceutical companies, petrochemical companies, and other engineering companies.

3. Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering brings in the core principles of engineering like mathematics and physics and applies them to the design and manufacturing of mechanical products like engines and heavy machinery. These types of engineers can work for motor companies designing and improving combustion engines, manufacturing plants improving processes, and providing quality assurance to plants, etc.

There are many other branches of engineering too but they are mainly combinations of above mentioned four engineering types. Some of the other branches of engineering include

  • Aerospace engineering
  • Agricultural engineering
  • Applied engineering
  • Biomedical engineering
  • Biomedical nanoengineering
