About the AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition:
The Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) in collaboration with (AfCFTA), (Afrexim Bank), (UNECA), (ITC) and (UNDP) invite all youth who are nationals of African countries, as well as those in the diaspora to participate in the YALDA AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition on the topic; “The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA): What is in it for young Africans?”. The competition seeks to deepen African youth understanding of the AfCFTA’s instruments and how African youth can drive the AfCFTA agenda from their perspective.

WHAT: The AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition is an Essay, Infographics and Animation Competition, organized by the Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) in collaboration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim Bank), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the International Trade Centre (ITC) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Under the theme ‘The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA): What is in it for young Africans?’, the creative competition highlights the place of competitions and challenges in awakening the consciousness and inventiveness of the youth to contribute content that can further propel their own understanding of AfCFTA’s instruments by using simple and relatable terms and concepts generated by youth themselves.

Eligibility:
The AfCFTA Youth Creative Competition is open to all youth (18-35 years) who are nationals of African countries, as well as those in the diaspora. The youth should be able to create animation, infographics or write essays and other creative content on the potential impact of AfCFTA on youth in Africa.

The purpose of the creative competition is to break information asymmetry among youth on the AfCFTA and promote a bottom-up approach to the policy formulation and implementation by harnessing innovative youth driven solutions that will contribute to active youth engagement in the popularization of the AfCFTA.
