The Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2021 SADC Secondary School Essay Competition.

About the Award: The SADC Secondary School Essay Competition is open only to secondary school students from the SADC Member States; Angola, Botswana, Union of the Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The top three (3) prize winners will receive their prizes and certificates on the margins of the 41st SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Lilongwe, Republic of Malawi in August 2021.
The SADC Secondary School Essay Competition was established in 1996 to recognise best students work in disseminating information on SADC to support the process of regional co-operation and integration in the region.

Eligible Countries: SADC Member States; Angola, Botswana, Union of the Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
To be Taken at (Country): The top three (3) prize winners will receive their prizes and certificates on the margins of the 41st SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Lilongwe, Republic of Malawi in August 2021.
Number of Awards: 3
Value of Award: The first prize winner receives US$1,500, second prize winner receives US$1,000 and the third prize winner receives US$750.
How to Apply: The Secretariat is further advising interested students to obtain more information and entry forms from their schools in their respective Member States. Completed forms, with all required information typed-in must be submitted to the school on the date advised.
