Applications are invited for one Postdoctoral Fellowship and one Doctoral Scholarship for research in the field of higher education studies and to contribute to the Research Project on the History of Universities in South Africa.

Eligibility:

  • The Postdoctoral Fellowship: Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree within the past five years in a discipline/field relevant to the topic of the research project (higher education, history, sociology, politics, etc.).
  • The Doctoral Scholarship: Applicants must have completed a Masters degree in a discipline/ field relevant to the topic of the research project (higher education, history, sociology, politics, etc.).

Value of Award:

  • The Postdoctoral Fellowship will be for 12 months and is worth R 210 000 per annum (tax free). It may be renewable if finances permit and on progress of research and performance. Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree within the past five years in a discipline/field relevant to the topic of the research project (higher education, history, sociology, politics, etc.).
  • The Doctoral Scholarship is for three years and worth R120 000 per year. It is renewable annually on progress of research and performance. Applicants must have completed a Masters degree in a discipline/ field relevant to the topic of the research project (higher education, history, sociology, politics, etc.).

Duration of Award:

Postdoctoral Fellowship: 1 year
Doctoral Scholarship: 3 years
