The UNOSSC/Government of China Youth4South Fellowship Programme 2021 is now open for applications for Masters students from Developing Countries

Application Deadline:

• Pekin University: 20th June 2021

About the Award: Under the Youth4South umbrella initiative, UNOSSC and its partners jointly developed a fellowship component which connects  funded opportunities with qualified young professionals and young scholars from developing countries to undertake short-term research projects, pursue postgraduate degrees, and participate in exchange and training courses in areas including international affairs, international studies, development studies, public policy, public administration and management, international cooperation and South-South and triangular cooperation, at selected prestigious universities and research/technical institutes.

Eligibility: The Master’s degree programme is now offered by two partner universities and open to applications by qualified candidates:

Key requirements to apply

• Meets other admission requirements of the host universities to which the applicant applies.
• Not a concurrent awardee of a Chinese government scholarship
• Must be a citizen from a developing country. Nationals from LDCs LLDCs SIDs will be prioritized. (In case of China Agricultural University, applicant must be citizen of African country.)
• Must be below the age of 35 (exceptions may be accepted with strong justifications on a case by case basis)
• Applicants must be recommended by government authorities, international organizations, or inter-governmental organizations

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

• Holder of an undergraduate (bachelors) degree in economics, international development, public policy, public administration, social science or related fields and preferably with strong communication skills is a minimum requirement for China Agricultural University, Peking University.

Language:

• Proficiency in English is required. (i.e., must possess an IELTS score of at least 7.0 or a TOEFL score of at least 100 points)
• If proficient in any other languages, please specify
• Proficiency in Chinese will be an asset

Work experience:

• At least 2 years of experience in research and/or working in sustainable development, social sciences or related fields is required
• At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in the areas of international development cooperation from respective Ministries/IGOs and Sector/technical cooperation agencies highly preferred
• Work experience may be considered equivalent for fellows with PhD or Master’s degree

1. Register at CAU Application Portal http://apply.cau.edu.cn.
2. Choose Chinese government scholarship when you start your online application.
3. Find the master program under College of International Development and Global Agriculture, and apply.
4. Accomplish CAU Application Form for International Students and pay Application Fee of RMB 400. If you have not received the activation email, please check your Spam/Others folder in your email.
5. The deadline of application will be on April 30, 2021.
6. Kindly also submit a copy of all your CAU application materials to the Youth4South Fellowship Team at Youth4South@unossc.org

Peking University:

Kindly follow the instructions provided in this document.

1. Application to the Economic and Counselor’s Office of Chinese Embassy
2. Complete application to Peking University.
3. Complete application to the Chinese Scholarship Council.
4. The deadline for completion of all steps of application is June 20, 2021
