Eligibility: The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching French courses at introductory and advanced levels and will also possess the ability to teach within an interdisciplinary generalist curriculum and hold a strong secondary specialization in at least one of the following fields: Global Studies, Ethnic Studies, or Gender Studies. Native or near-native fluency in French and English is required. This is a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin on September 1, 2022. Ph.D. in hand or evidence of imminent completion required.

Value of Award: The successful candidate will teach a full-time load of six courses per year, two per 10-week term, ranging from introductory French language and culture to advanced literary and cultural studies seminars in French. Courses at the advanced level will represent the full range of Francophone cultures (sometimes in dialogue with French culture). They will also contribute regularly to affiliated interdisciplinary programs (as listed above), as well as Lawrence’s signature multidisciplinary first-year seminar program. Interest and experience in study abroad is highly desirable.
