EY calls for nominations for the EY World Entrepreneur Award™ Southern Africa programme

EY has today called for nominations for entrepreneurs to enter the World Entrepreneur Award™ Southern Africa programme, now in its 25th year.

EY Africa CEO Ajen Sita said: “Entrepreneurs are rapidly reshaping the world and no more so than in Africa. This year we hope to attract more women-led businesses in particular.

“Women in Southern Africa have provided inspiration in reframing our future and have tackled some of the world’s most intractable problems through innovation.”

For the purposes of the programme entrepreneurs include both founders of companies and those who organise, manage, and assume the risks of a business or enterprise early in the companies’ life and are still active in the leadership of the company.

Entrepreneurs can also be multi-generational businesses with the current CEO continuing to manage the business.

“Winners are provided with an ecosystem of consulting, strategy and assurance required to radically scale their businesses across Africa and the world making it more than recognition through a range of award categories, “ Sita added.

Since 1998, EY’s World Entrepreneur Award™ Southern Africa has honoured people who build and lead successful, growing and dynamic businesses.

Who can apply?

• Must be a chairman / chief executive office / owner / manager / founder (or joint owner / manager / founders) of a private or public company, primarily responsible for the recent performance of the company, and an active member of top management.
• Nominated entrepreneurs for the Southern Africa programme require 4 years of audited financial reports.

In Southern Africa, an independent judging panel of alumni, entrepreneurs and key influencers determine the winners of the Ignite, Inspire and Influence categories across Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Mauritius, Madagascar, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

How are Applicants Selected?

The overall winners are then invited to compete for the prestigious EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year title in Monte Carlo in June each year which includes entrepreneurs from 60 countries.
