What is the Award?

The Commonwealth Blue Charter Project Incubator supports the development of government-led initiatives and pilot projects under the Commonwealth Blue Charter that accelerate their transition to fair, sustainable and inclusive ocean governance, protection and blue economies, and build resilience and adaptation to climate change. Grants range from £5k to £50k, as well as providing training and technical
assistance, as required.

• Sustainable Coastal Fisheries

Who is Eligible?

All applications must have a Commonwealth Government as the lead project entity. The lead entity is responsible for the delivery of the project. In a situation where the Government may not be equipped to
receive international funding, it may assign a fiscal agent1 or one of the project partners to manage the grant’s finances. However, the lead Government remains responsible for overseeing the proper disbursement of these funds.
Additionally, partnering with non-governmental entities is strongly recommended (see below)

What is the Benefit of Award?

. £5000 to £50,000.
Grants cannot be split into smaller grants per recipient to circumvent the £50,000 limit.

Ineligible costs will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis; however, in
general the following categories in this non-exhaustive list are not
covered:
• Government staff time;
• Work that is part of a government’s usual day-to-day activities;
• Ministerial-level travel;
• Excessive and unnecessary travel;
• Sub-contracting not identified in the project proposal.
