VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION – ONE (1) POST
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 246(2)(a)(iii) of the Constitution of Kenya and Section 5(1)(4) of the National Police Service Commission Act No.30 of 2011, (Revised 2020) the Selection Panel invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Member of the National Police Service Commission.

Who is Eligible?
For appointment as a Member of the National Police Service Commission, a person should:
(a) be a citizen of Kenya;
(b) hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
(c) meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution;
(d) not be and has not previously been a member of the National Police Service; and
(e) have at least ten (10) years’ experience in any of the following discipline
(i) Finance and Administration;
(ii) Economics;
(iii) Human Resource Development and Management;
(iv) Public Administration;
(v) Labour Laws;
(vi) Law;
(vii) Human Rights; (viii) Ethics and Governance;
(ix) Mediation and Consensus Building; and
(x) Change Management
(f) have had a distinguished career in his/her respective field.
DISQUALIFICATION CRITERIA
A person shall not be qualified for nomination as a Member of the National Police Service Commission if the person:
(a) is or has, at any time within the previous five years, been a Member of Parliament or a County assembly;
(b) is a serving State Officer;
(c) is a member of a governing body of a political party;
(d) is an undischarged bankrupt;
(e) has been convicted of a felony; or
f) has been removed from office for contravening the provisions of the Constitution or any other law.
(NB. Criteria No. (a) above shall cease to apply to a person after one (1) general election for Parliament has been held since the person ceased to hold such office).

3. The salary and benefits for this position shall be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission; and 4. The Member of the Commission will be appointed for a single term of six (6) years and shall not be eligible for re-appointment.

(d) Current and Valid Clearances from the following bodies:
(i) Kenya Revenue Authority; (ii) Higher Education Loans Board;
(iii) A Registered Credit Reference Bureau;
(iv) Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate);
(v) Printed Online Self-declaration Application Acknowledgement Receipt or a Self-Declaration Form duly stamped by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; and
(e) Recommendations from relevant professional bodies (where applicable).
