Next, you will be directed to register on the VFS Global website to upload documents online and/or select from a variety of practical and optional visa services after completing the online form and paying the visa cost. When you visit the Visa Application Center, you can choose to pay for expert assistance with our Document Scanning Assistance service if you do not want to self-upload papers. Schedule a visit with the VFS Global Visa Application Center.

Step 3: Review and pay

After making your appointment, you will ultimately be prompted to evaluate, confirm, and pay for any additional services you have chosen.

Step 4: Present your biometrics at the VFS Global Visa Application Center.

You should arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment at the visa application center. Don’t forget to bring your:

  • Confirmation of the appointment letter
  • Checklist of documents
  • If not already posted online, travel and accompanying documents

When to apply for a UK visa

The earliest you can often apply is:

  • 3 months prior to the day you intend to depart for your visit
  • 3 months prior to the commencement of your job for the majority of work visas
  • 6 months prior to the commencement of your course for student and child visas

Before you travel to the UK, settlement applications must be accepted, which can take up to 6 months. You must leave the UK as soon as your authorization to do so expires if you are granted permission to settle there.

How long does the decision take?

Your visa application’s processing time will be determined by the visa you apply for.

You may be able to pay for a faster decision on your visa application, depending on:

  • the type of visa you apply for
  • how you apply
  • where do you apply from

Fees

There is a fee for each visa. Which visa you apply for will determine the price.

Note that each family member who requests to travel to the UK with you must pay the same fees.

Pay for healthcare.

You have to pay the healthcare surcharge as part of your application if you’re:

  • applying for a visa to join your family, pursue a job, or study
  • making a request to stay longer than six months
  • not making a permanent move to the UK.

What if you are applying for someone else?

You can apply for someone else’s visa. For instance, if your child is unable to apply for themselves, you can help a distant cousin who does not have access to a computer.

Therefore, you must have the applicant’s consent, or if the applicant is under 18, written consent from their parent or legal guardian.

Note that you must fill out the form with the applicant’s information, not your own.
