About the Canon Female Photojournalist Grant 2024 

For the twenty-fourth consecutive year, Canon and Visa pour l’Image will present the prestigious Canon Female Photojournalist Grant to an outstanding photographer in recognition of her contribution to photojournalism. The grant amounts to €8,000 and it is supposed to fund a compelling new project, which will be showcased as an exhibition at the 2025 festival. This year’s featured photographer is Anastasia Taylor-Lind, the 2023 grant recipient, who will focus on the civilian experience of war in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.

Eligibility Requirements for the Canon Female Photojournalist Grant 2024 

Additionally, interested applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have completed at least one photo reportage (published or unpublished)
  • Must be a professional photojournalist
  • Must be able to write and speak in French and/or English

Application Documents

Also, applicants will be required to submit the following documents: 

  • A signed application form,
  • A copy of the Applicant’s identity card or passport,
  • An affidavit stating that the candidate is a professional photojournalist (attestation of honor written by the photographer or from an agency or from a newspaper)
  • A curriculum vitae,
  • A letter in support of the application including a description of the photoreportage project (maximum 1 typed page). This letter must remain anonymous and must not contain anything that would allow the candidate to be identified.
  • A projected budget for the photo-reportage project for which the grant is to be used if obtained. If the financing of the project is to be extended to other partners, these must be approved by Canon and Images Evidence who reserve the right not to cite them,
  • A photo-reportage in black and white or color: between 10 and 20 pictures Material specifications for .jpg – – – – – low-resolution .jpg with captions written in the File Info field (no mention of copyright in the IPTC files) only JPEG accepted (no TIFF or PSD) maximum images size : 3 MB Each Picture file has to be numbered without mentioning the name of the photographer (01, 02, 03, …) in the order the photograph would like them to be shown to the jury
