Eligibility Criteria
The competition has two categories based on age:
- Senior Category: If you were born between May 16, 2005, and May 15, 2010 (14–18 years of age), you can enter the Senior Category.
- Junior Category: If you were born on or after May 16, 2010 (under 14 years of age), the Junior Category is for you.
2024 Essay Topics
The following are two categories of topics that can be selected:
Senior Category Topics
- Reflect on small steps to tackle the climate crisis, inspired by the quote from Queen Elizabeth II.
- Write a speech on a major global issue and how Commonwealth values can address it.
- Discuss how your cultural values can enhance cooperation within the Commonwealth, drawing from the Samoan concept of ‘aiga’.
- Compose a letter to your national leader about achieving peace, liberty, and progress.
Junior Category Topics
- Propose a new habit that could help create a greener Commonwealth.
- Write a dialogue between you and a grandparent about resilience and hope.
- Imagine a conversation with sea creatures during a beach clean-up.
- Describe making friends in a Commonwealth country different from your own.
