University of Copenhagen Danish Government Scholarships for International Students 2025

For the January 2025 academic year, the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) has a fantastic opportunity through the Danish Government Scholarship program. This scholarship, which is intended for exceptional students from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, intends to assist gifted people who are enrolled in one of the best master’s programs in Scandinavia.

The Danish Government Scholarship comes with a stipend to help with your basic living expenses, in addition to a full or partial waiver of the tuition charge.

Who is eligible for the Danish Government Scholarships?
To qualify for this prestigious scholarship, you must:
- Be a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland.
- You must have secured admission to a Master’s degree program at UCPH.
- Be granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark to study a higher educational program.
Unfortunately, you are not eligible if you:
- Have legal claims to the rights of Danish citizens.
- Are eligible for grants under the Danish State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme.
- If you have been granted a residence permit as the child of a non-EU/EEA foreign citizen under specific Danish Aliens Consolidations Act conditions.
Selection Process:
Scholarships are given out only based on academic merit, without taking into account applicants’ financial situation. There is no requirement to submit a separate scholarship application; all qualified applicants who are given admission will automatically be taken into consideration. Nominated students will get a notification from UCPH via the DANS application portal.

For international applicants (outside the EU, EEA, and Switzerland):
- Application Deadline: September 1, 2024
- Admission Reply By: December 1, 2024
For Danish and EU/EEA/Swiss applicants:
- Application Deadline: October 15, 2024
- Admission Reply By: December 10, 2024

Language Requirements for the Danish Government Scholarships
Danish language skills are not required for any of the UCPH Master’s programs that are taught in English. Nonetheless, documentation of English language competency is required, usually in the form of TOEFL or IELTS test results. You may be excluded from taking these tests depending on your background; for additional information, see the prerequisites for the particular program.
