Project Focus

Additionally, the scholarship is focused on improving the efficiency of subsea cable installations, which are essential for transmitting power from offshore renewable energy sources, such as wind, tidal, and solar farms, to the mainland. The project aims to achieve the following objectives: 

  • Enhance and refine particle finite element models to more accurately simulate the dynamic interactions between cutting tools and seabed soils. 
  • Validate these models through both experimental and industry-partner data. 
  • Develop new methodologies to improve the efficiency of the trenching process, which will influence future industry practices.
