Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UTSP, applicants must:

  • Be defined as an overseas student under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth).
  • Purchase and maintain a standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy approved by the Commonwealth government’s Department of Health and Ageing.
  • Be commencing full-time enrolment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at UTS.
  • Undertake a study in a subject area identified by UTS as one of its research concentrations.
  • Not have completed a degree at the same or higher level as the proposed candidacy.
  • Not have previously held an Australian Government-funded postgraduate research scholarship for more than six months.
  • Not be receiving an equivalent award, scholarship, or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the UTSP stipend rate.
