Sciences Po established the Émile Boutmy scholarship in honor of the university’s founder. The scholarship aims to attract outstanding international students from outside the European Union. It is awarded to top students whose profiles align with Sciences Po’s admissions priorities and specific course requirements.

Who can Apply For The Émile Boutmy Scholarship
Additionally, to apply for the interested candidates must meet the following requirements:
- first-time applicants, from a non-European Union state, whose household does not file taxes within the European Union, and who have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master’s program.
Students who are not eligible are:
- Master’s level dual-degree candidates. Only applicants for the following dual degrees are eligible:
- the dual degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University
- the dual degree Sciences Po/Fudan University with a concentration in Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
- the dual degree Sciences Po/Peking University (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
- Ph.D. program students (thesis)
- Candidates for the 1 year Master’s programs
- Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless as part of a specific agreement)
- Exchange students
- Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure
Which Countries Are Eligible?
All countries expect the following:
- Swiss and Norwegian applicants, since they may be eligible for the CROUS scholarships
- Candidates who have dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship
- Candidates from Quebec for master’s degree (since they may take advantage of sliding scale fees the same as European applicants). Candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible

What is the Benefit of The Émile Boutmy Scholarship?
The Émile Boutmy scholarship is specifically for students arriving at Sciences Po for their first year of study. The scholarship offers a tuition grant of €13,100 per year, each year, which covers part of the tuition fees for the two years of the Master’s degree program. Also, for scholarship holders already at Sciences Po: the amount awarded through the scholarship is determined at the time of admission. It may be recalculated yearly, per tuition fee increases, when applicable.
