About the Award: YALI RLC-SA is excited to launch the Innovation Challenges, an initiative to strengthen our alumni’s initiatives by equipping them with problem solving skills using Human Centred Design and Design Thinking techniques. Innovation Challenges will be open to select applicants who run investment ready initiatives and are looking for an opportunity to refine their projects’ conceptual design and take their initiatives to the next level.
The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. The need to invest in grooming strong, results-oriented leaders comes out of the statistics: nearly 1 in 3 Africans are between the ages of 10 and 24, and approximately 60% of Africa’s total population is below the age of 35.

The Innovation Challenge will be delivered in a hybrid model, starting with three online Master Classesfollowed by an in-residence three-day intensive boot-camp which will culminate in an elevator pitch. The Innovation Challenge is an ideal platform to refine your idea and prepare your initiative to apply for the YALI RLC-SA Alumni Grant.
