The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a vibrant and cosmopolitan university, firmly anchored in Africa. UJ is dedicated to shaping the future through innovation, the collaborative pursuit of knowledge, and striving towards global excellence and stature (GES). The Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPATC) at UJ is inviting applications for postdoctoral fellowships in the following categories:

  • Technology/Innovation/4IR/Digital Africa
  • Public Health/Well-Being/Livelihoods in Africa
  • Africa and Global Governance (G20/BRICS)
  • African Cities/Local Government/Spatial Transformation

Who can Apply?

  • Comprehensive CV and cover letter with one or more references
  • Proposal outlining a research plan
  • Academic transcripts
  • Age 45 years or younger
  • Proven ability to write and publish papers in accredited peer-reviewed journals

How are Applicants Selected?

The postdoctoral fellowship will be awarded on a competitive basis, taking into account the candidate’s academic achievements, potential as an independent researcher, and alignment with the requirements of the call. Successful candidates will primarily work remotely.
