FAQS
Are the HAN scholarships full scholarships?
No. The HAN scholarships are € 2,500 per term or year. Your cost of living will be at least € 1,000 per month, or € 12,000 per year. Add tuition fees to that, and you need around € 20,000 in total per academic year. So, if you are granted a scholarship worth € 2,500 per academic year or term, you still need around € 15,000 to € 18,000 per academic year to cover your costs.
When are the scholarships paid?
- Receiving your scholarship per semester? This counts for the first year of the HAN NL Scholarship. Then you’ll be paid in:
September starters | October and March |
February starters | March and October |
- Receiving your scholarship per year? This counts for the HAN Honors Scholarship and the remaining years of the HAN NL Scholarship. Then you’ll be paid in:
September starters | October |
February starters | March |
- Keep in mind that you can only receive the scholarship payment if:
You’re enrolled as a HAN student.
You have a Dutch bank account in your name.
What about dual nationality?
Are you a dual national? Spanish and Venezuelan, for example. So EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA? Your EU/EEA nationality will be used as your first nationality. This means you can’t apply for a HAN scholarship. But it does qualify you to pay the EU/EEA tuition fee. This is much lower than the non-EU/EEA fee combined with a HAN scholarship.
Can you combine scholarships?
You cannot combine two HAN scholarships. But you can combine a HAN scholarship with a scholarship from another organization.
