FAQS

Are the HAN scholarships full scholarships?

No. The HAN scholarships are € 2,500 per term or year. Your cost of living will be at least € 1,000 per month, or € 12,000 per year. Add tuition fees to that, and you need around € 20,000 in total per academic year. So, if you are granted a scholarship worth € 2,500 per academic year or term, you still need around € 15,000 to € 18,000 per academic year to cover your costs.

When are the scholarships paid?

  1. Receiving your scholarship per semester? This counts for the first year of the HAN NL Scholarship. Then you’ll be paid in:
September startersOctober and March
February startersMarch and October
  1. Receiving your scholarship per year? This counts for the HAN Honors Scholarship and the remaining years of the HAN NL Scholarship. Then you’ll be paid in:
September startersOctober
February startersMarch
  1. Keep in mind that you can only receive the scholarship payment if:

You’re enrolled as a HAN student.

You have a Dutch bank account in your name.

What about dual nationality?

Are you a dual national? Spanish and Venezuelan, for example. So EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA? Your EU/EEA nationality will be used as your first nationality. This means you can’t apply for a HAN scholarship. But it does qualify you to pay the EU/EEA tuition fee. This is much lower than the non-EU/EEA fee combined with a HAN scholarship.

Can you combine scholarships?

You cannot combine two HAN scholarships. But you can combine a HAN scholarship with a scholarship from another organization.
