The China University of Petroleum (Beijing) – Beijing Government Foreign Students Scholarship was set up to attract outstanding foreign students to our university, promote the quality of international students’ education, cultivate international talents with global vision and cross-cultural communication ability, and constantly improve their international influence and competitiveness. The selection and evaluation of CUPB scholarship adhere to the principles of fairness, openness, and merit. The scholarship program is only available to 2024 freshmen and later.

Who can Apply for the China University of Petroleum Beijing Government Scholarship?

Interested applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the scholarship to study in China: 

1. Non-Chinese Citizenship: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, in good health, law-abiding, and have no criminal record. They must meet the university’s basic admission requirements for international students.

2.  Language Proficiency Requirement for English-taught Programs:

  • Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 75 or higher, or equivalent proof of English proficiency. Chinese language skills are preferred.
  • Graduate: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80 or higher, or equivalent proof of English proficiency. Chinese language skills are advantageous.
  • Exceptions: Applicants from countries where English is the official language do not need to provide English proficiency proof.

3.  Language Requirement for Chinese-taught Programs:

  • Undergraduate: HSK-4 level with a score of 222 or above.
  • Graduate: HSK-5 level or higher.

4. Educational and Age Requirements:

  • Undergraduate: High school graduates under 25 years old.
  • Master’s Programs: Bachelor’s degree holders under 35 years old.
  • Doctoral Programs: Master’s degree holders under 45 years old.

Application documents:

  • Scanned copies of all China visa pages and China entry and exit record pages, passport photos (480×720) with a white background.
  • Highest academic certificate and transcript (with certified Chinese/English translations if not in Chinese or English), with an average score of over 70%.
  • Certificate of Language Proficiency.
  • Study and research plan.
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Health Certificate) with a laboratory report.
  • Certificate of no criminal record.
  • Two recommendation letters from associate professors or above (for postgraduate program applicants).
  • Acceptance letter from a supervisor (recommended for master’s applicants, mandatory for Ph.D. applicants).

First Class Scholarship:

  4. Monthly allowance of 2500 RMB for 10 months each year.

Second Class Scholarship:

  1. Full tuition fee exemption.
  2. Accommodation in a double room.
  3. Comprehensive health insurance (no monthly allowance).
