- energy to use one’s talents to the full (as demonstrated by mastery in areas such as sports, music, debate, dance, theater, and artistic pursuits, particularly where teamwork is involved).
- truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness, and fellowship
- moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one’s fellow beings.

What is the Benefit of the Rhodes Scholarships at the University of Melbourne?
- A stipend of £19,092 pa (approximately AUD$37,000 in 2024)
- All university and college fees, including the university application fee
- Visa costs
- One economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the scholarship and one economy flight back to the student’s home country at the conclusion of the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Rhodes Scholarship, applicants must:
- Citizenship: Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Applications from refugees or asylum seekers currently residing in Australia will also be considered.
- Education: Have completed at least two years of schooling at an Australian secondary school.
- Age: Be between 18 and 25 years old as of October 1, 2024 (born between October 2, 1999, and October 1, 2006). Exceptions exist for older candidates who completed their undergraduate degree later than usual, extending the upper age limit to 27 years (born after October 1, 1997).
- Academic Requirements: Have completed or will complete by July 2025 an undergraduate degree with a GPA of at least 6.75/7 or equivalent.
