When is the Application Deadline:

The application deadline for the University of Birmingham DeepMind Scholarship 2024 is July 21, 2024, for international students, and  August 18, 2024, for UK students.

Tell Me About The University of Birmingham DeepMind Scholarship 2024

The University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science is excited to offer two scholarships funded by DeepMind. These scholarships are available to students who have received either a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program at our Edgbaston campus in the UK.

Moreover, with DeepMind’s support, the University of Birmingham aims to make computer science more accessible and diverse, especially for underrepresented groups. The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is a great chance for students who are passionate about AI to pursue a fulfilling career. As AI systems become more integrated into our daily lives, it’s crucial to have diverse expertise to ensure these systems are fair for everyone.

These scholarships will help talented students achieve their dreams of working in some of the most innovative and in-demand fields in industry and research.

Who can Apply for the University of Birmingham DeepMind Scholarship 2024?

Furthermore, interested applicants wishing to apply for the scholarship should meet the following criteria: 

  • Identify as female 
  • Also,be able to demonstrate (if required) that they would not be able to take up the offer of admission without financial assistance

Applicants must also:

  • Have already received a conditional/unconditional offer to study the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of  Birmingham
  • Be ordinarily resident in the UK and would be classified as UK for fee-paying purposes, OR be classed as an international student for fee-paying purposes

Applications will be considered by a selection panel at the School of Computer Science and shortlisted based on the above eligibility categories, and providing any additional supporting documentation and evidence (if required). 

How are Applicants Selected?

Additionally, for international students, the final scholarship application deadline will be Sunday 21st July 2024.  Applications will be shortlisted and suitable candidates will be contacted for an interview at the end of July 2024.  Further information will be shared directly with offer holders regarding the process. 

Also, for UK applicants, the final scholarship application deadline will be Sunday 18th August 2024. Applications will be shortlisted and suitable candidates will be contacted for interview by the end of August 2024. Further information will be shared directly with offer holders regarding the process.

What is the Benefit of the  University of Birmingham DeepMind Scholarship 2024?

The scholarship benefits are below: 

The UK scholarship is worth £34,225. It covers:

  • UK tuition fees: £11,340
  • A maintenance grant of £18,985 for living costs, paid in installments throughout the course
  • Up to £2,200 for attending an international conference in AI or Machine Learning during the course
  • £1,700 for essential equipment like a suitable laptop

The International scholarship is worth £56,525. It covers:

  • International tuition fees: £31,410
  • A maintenance grant of £19,345 for living costs, paid in installments throughout the course
  • Up to £2,200 for attending an international conference in AI or Machine Learning during the course
  • £1,700 for essential equipment like a suitable laptop
  • £1,870 to help with relocation expenses

How to Apply:

Applications are only accepted from those who have an offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program.

The application process opens in May 2024. If you receive an offer from our central Admissions Office, you’ll get an email with a link to apply for the DeepMind scholarship. If you already have an offer, you’ll get this email when applications open.

Additionally, applications will be reviewed, and shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview by the end of July 2024. Offer holders will receive more information about the process.
