The annual Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads International Photo Contest is a great opportunity for young people worldwide to express their understanding of the shared heritage of the Silk Roads through photography. Today’s youth often use visual arts, especially photography, as a powerful means of communication and self-expression. Images have the potential to raise awareness of important global issues and contribute to promoting peace and understanding. This photo contest allows young people to connect digitally, share their creativity, and showcase their vision for the future.

Who can Apply for the UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads 2024 Photo Contest?

The Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest is open to young people who live in or have traveled within regions connected by the Silk Roads. The contest aims to promote understanding of the cultural heritage and diverse identities along the Silk Roads through photography. This year’s theme is “Life Celebrations”. The contest has two age categories: 14-17 year olds and 18-25 year olds. The Selection Committee will choose winners from each category based on submitted photographs.

What is the Benefit of the UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest?

Additionally, first-place winners will receive a professional camera. Second-place winners will receive a semi-professional camera, and the prize for third-place will be a standard-model digital camera. 

Around 60 of the best photos from the contest will appear in a professional photo album “Youth Lens on the Silk Roads” and might be showcased in exhibitions held worldwide.
