Google Conference Scholarships for Students in Africa 2024: Call for Applications

Google is excited to offer Google Conference Scholarships for selected conferences in the tech industry and related fields.

Application Deadline:

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so there is no specific deadline. However, it is recommended to apply well in advance of the conference to allow for the processing time, which can take 5-8 weeks.

About the Google Conference Scholarships:

At Google, we believe a diversity of attributes, experiences, and perspectives are needed to build tools that can change the world. Everyone deserves an opportunity to pursue connections in the industry, to peers, and a career path in technology. To help break down the barriers that prevent underrepresented groups in the tech industry from attending leading conferences.

Type:

Conference travel grant, which currently covers conference registration fees due to the shift to virtual conferences.

Eligibility for the Google Conference Scholarships:

\The travel grant program is open to all qualified industry professionals and students and is committed to promoting diversity within the technology industry. Anyone who identifies with a group that is historically underrepresented in the technology industry (including, but not limited to, African Americans, Women, Hispanics, Native Americans, persons with disabilities, and veterans) is encouraged to apply for the Google Conference scholarships.

Applicants must:

• Be full-time students enrolled at a recognized university in Africa.
• Have a paper accepted at a top-tier computer science conference.
• Be the sole or joint first author of the accepted paper.
• Not be a Google employee or resident of embargoed countries, or otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions.

An award in the range of 1,000 – 3,000 USD that will cover conference registration, travel, accommodation and related expenses. Scholarship amount depends on cost for the international conference.

Selection is based on a review of the application. The most qualified applicants will be selected based on merit and need.
