Tell Me About The University of Montreal 2025 Exemption:

The UdeM exemption scholarship program exists to support international candidates in their university studies. Since the fall of 2020, it is possible to benefit from an exemption from the tuition fees normally charged to international students.

Also, the goal of this program is to help the best talent from all countries attend one of the finest francophone research universities in the world. In turn, these international students will help fulfill our educational mission by enriching the cultural diversity of the Université de Montréal community.

Who can Apply?

Additionally, it is important to note that the UdeM exemption scholarship is for international students (except French and French-speaking Belgian students). To be eligible, the candidate must:

  • Have received an offer of admission to a study program at UdeM (as of Fall 2020)
  • Not be enrolled in an independent study program or short undergraduate program as of the Winter 2024 session, e.g., certificate, major, minor, short program, or preparatory year program for university studies
  • Have valid study authorizations (CAQ and study permit) for all sessions of their study program
  • Be continuously a full-time student for their entire study program
  • Not benefit from another form of tuition fee exemption

If one of the above conditions is not met, the UdeM exemption scholarship may be withdrawn.

What is the Benefit of the Award?

Undergraduate Students

  • Level A: $13,740.60 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $6,870.30 per session (15 credits) 
  • Level B: $6,548.40 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $3,274.20 per session (15 credits)

These amounts are applied to tuition fees of $25,567.80 per year (30 credits).

Masters Students

  • Non-research: $10,788.75 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $3,596.25 per session 
  • Research: $15,150.00 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $5,050.00 per session (equivalent to 15 credits)

This amount applies to tuition fees of $29,084.40 per year (45 credits).

PhD Students

  • $22,908.60 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $7,636.20 per session (equivalent to 15 credits).

This amount is applied to the tuition fees of $29,788.60 per year (45 credits).
