The application deadline for the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) Scholarship is 15 October 2024.

The GIST Fully-Funded Scholarship Program 2024-2025, a collaboration between GIST and the South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology, aims to attract talented international students and offer them the opportunity to study in South Korea. As one of Korea’s leading science and technology universities, GIST is ranked among the top institutions worldwide. This scholarship program provides a fantastic opportunity for talented international students to pursue their studies at GIST.

The following fields are eligible:

School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

  • School of Mechanical Engineering
  • School of Life Science
  • Department of Physics and Photon Science
  • Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence Graduate School
  • Department of Chemistry
  • School of Integrated Technology
  • School of Materials Science and Engineering
  • School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering

Who can Apply?

Also, applicants who want to take advantage of this opportunity must meet the following criteria:

  • All international students are eligible to apply for the GIST Scholarship.
  • Applicants applying for the master’s program must hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree.
  • Applicants applying for the Ph.D. program must hold a master’s or equivalent degree.
  • The applicant must be proficient in the English language.

Applicants are to submit the following documents:

  • Statement on Application Documents Submission (Form1)
  • Official transcripts & certificates.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • English proficiency test
  • Candidate Passport Copy

What is the Benefit of the Award?

Additionally, applicants will benefit from the following:

Tuition fee waiver, 3,415,000 won per semester.

Monthly Stipends:

  • M.S. students: 140,000 won per month
  • PhD students: 295,000 won per month
  • Health Insurance
  • Flight reimbursement
  • Research assistantships will be provided to those students who participate in research projects.
