University of Western States Scholarships are awarded primarily on the strength of application but may include consideration of academic merit and/or other qualifying factors. All scholarships are applied to tuition and may be open to students in all programs and to both U.S. citizens and residents of other countries. We encourage applicants to review the criteria carefully to determine their eligibility.

The University of Western States admits students of any race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, sex, or age to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the university.
The Office of Financial Aid will notify applicants in writing via email who have been selected to receive scholarships. If the scholarship is more than $1,000, the total scholarship will be disbursed to student accounts evenly during that year unless otherwise noted as part of the scholarship award. Awards less than $1,000 will be disbursed in total during the term in which the scholarship is available.

The Fall 2024 scholarship application will be open through September 9, 2024. Applications received after this date will not be reviewed.
UWS is proud to announce the new Community and Social Justice Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes and honors current students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community engagement and social justice.
Scholarship awards: $1,000 to two recipients

Dr. Jan Neal, UWS DC class of ’86, established this scholarship to ease the financial burden of future chiropractic physicians by helping defer the costs of technology required for the doctor of chiropractic (DC) program by providing this scholarship for technology purchases needed for education. Dr. Neal remembers the quarterly struggle to find money to buy supplies, equipment, and last-minute classroom materials when she was a student and wants to help ease that burden on current students.
Scholarship award: $500 to 20 recipients

Whole-person health includes the entire person, their lived experiences, and their ways of being. UWS recognizes that a racially and ethnically diverse student body benefits and enriches the educational experiences of our community. UWS also acknowledges the need to increase diversity within the chiropractic profession to better serve communities of color. The university offers the Dr. Richard Tilden Diversity in Healthcare scholarship funded by The CHP Group to support ongoing advancement towards achieving racial equity among doctors of chiropractic medicine.

The Dr. Steve Edward Oliver memorial scholarship was established by his partner Ray Matlock Smythe, BA, MAT, in 2023 to help ease the financial burden of future chiropractic physicians. This scholarship will be awarded in the fall term to one returning student enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program.

As a practicing chiropractor, there will be many modalities you can employ to deliver optimal patient care. What is the importance of nutrition in achieving patients’s health goals? How do you plan to incorporate education, and what type of supplementation will you include as part of your treatment plans?
The Dr. Michael Horowitz & Dr. Jeannie Gutierrez Scholarship was established at each of the colleges and universities within The Community Solution Education System to support students who self-identify as first-generation, immigrant to the U.S., or child of immigrant(s) to the US (“First Generation American”). This scholarship was established to enable immigrant and/or first-generation students to blaze a new trail of success for their families and in their communities. This scholarship is available for both online and on campus degree programs.
Scholarship Award: $5,000 to one recipient

Candidates must submit an essay by the application due date describing their academic goals. If applicable, candidates should demonstrate that they are first generation college-going, an immigrant to the U.S., or the child of an immigrant(s) to the U.S. Candidates are advised to include information concerning their prior community service contributions and academic achievement in their essay.
