The ASRI Future Leaders programme is an intensive, full-time, training programme that assists young university graduates to pursue careers in the civil society and government sectors, and therefore recruits individuals who are socially and politically active in their communities. The programme seeks to recruit people who are 30 years old or younger who aspire, in different spheres, to create change in South Africa.

The ASRI Future Leaders Programme is an intensive, full-time training initiative designed to develop young university graduates for careers in civil society and government sectors. The programme focuses on enhancing participants’ social and human capital, preparing them to become influential leaders in various sectors.

The programme seeks to recruit people who are 30 years old or younger who aspire, in different spheres, to create change in South Africa. In this training programme we enhance participants’ social and human capital in ways that not only accelerates their personal growth, but which also translates into increased opportunities in the future.

The programme will accept 20 individuals for 2025, and each person will receive a monthly stipend of R3 500 + a data simcard with approximately 20GB to 30GB of data per month for the duration of the programme.   • The programme is open to individuals aspiring to create change in South Africa, with a focus on civil society, government, NGOs, policy institutes, media, and public service.

Who can Apply for the ASRI Future Leaders Programme?

  • Applicants must:
    • Be 30 years old or younger
    • Have an undergraduate degree or diploma (post-graduate qualifications are advantageous)
    • Demonstrate community and leadership experience
    • Be able to attend full-time from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, from February 3, 2025, to May 29, 2025
    • Be South African citizens, residents, or have legal permission to reside in South Africa

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Applications are reviewed and selected on a rolling basis. Interviews will be held in October and November 2024. Applicants will need to bring proof of qualifications to the interview.
