- The ACES Scholarships, administered by the ACES Education Fund, are awarded to students who excel in critical thinking about written materials and aspire to careers in editing. Six scholarships are awarded annually, including the prestigious Bill Walsh Scholarship, honoring the late editor and ACES guiding spirit.

- The scholarships are open to students in any field of study, as long as they have a demonstrated interest in editing.

Who can Apply?
- Applicants must be enrolled college/university juniors, seniors, or graduate students at the time of the deadline. They must also have an interest in editing as a career. Scholarships are awarded without regard to nationality, residence, or academic concentration. Previous winners, ACES Board members, administrators, or their families are not eligible.
How are Applicants Selected?
- The selection process involves two rounds. In December, finalists are chosen based on their applications. These finalists then take a timed editing test in early January. The test results are combined with the applicants’ portfolios, and the final winners are selected in a second round of judging by two separate panels.
Which Countries Are Eligible?
- There are no nationality or residence restrictions for the ACES Scholarships.
Where will the Award be Taken?
- The scholarship does not require physical relocation; however, winners are eligible for aid to attend the ACES annual in-person national conference.
How Many Awards?
- Six scholarships are awarded annually.
What is the Benefit of the Award?
- The five ACES Scholarships each provide:
- Four awards of $1,500
- One Aubespin Scholarship of $2,500
- The Bill Walsh Scholarship provides $3,500.
