Tell Me About The University Of British Columbia (UBC) MasterCard Scholarship 2025 for African Students:

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC is a decade-long initiative that will support a total of 163 scholars, including 77 undergraduate and 35 master’s students. The program began in 2013 with five undergraduate students, and by 2018, UBC will have over 70 Mastercard Foundation Scholars on campus.

Also, applicants must ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree and be 35 years old or younger
  • Be a citizen or refugee of a Sub-Saharan African country with significant life experience there
  • Present economically disadvantaged financial circumstances and have excelled academically under difficult conditions
  • Exhibit leadership potential and a commitment to giving back to the community
  • Require a Canadian study permit and have not claimed or intend to claim asylum in Canada
  • Plan to return to Africa after completing a Master’s degree at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus
