Chalmers University of Technology Scholarships for master’s studies
There is a separate application for scholarships administered by Chalmers. You can apply after you have submitted your programme application at universityadmissions.se, since you will have to identify yourself with that application number. The scholarships that are listed below apply to prospective students only.

If you apply before the first academic year at Chalmers, it is not open to current students. The scholarship offers are valid for 2 years of study, under certain conditions. The conditions are outlined in the Scholarship Regulations.
#1. Avancez Scholarships
75% tuition fee waivers awarded by Chalmers. These scholarships are available to all fee-paying students. “Avancez!” is the motto of the university founder, William Chalmers.
- Eligibility: Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries applying for a Masterโs program at Chalmers.
- Coverage: 75% of tuition fees for the first year, potentially increasing to 85% for the second year based on academic performance.
- Field of Study: Unrestricted; available for all Masterโs programs.
- Selection Criteria: Academic excellence, home university’s ranking, and the priority of Chalmers programs in the application.
#2. IPOET Scholarships
IPOET (International Programme Office for Education and Training) offers 75% tuition fee waivers funded by the Government of Sweden and administered by Chalmers. These scholarships are available to all fee-paying students.
- Eligibility: Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries applying for a Masterโs program at Chalmers.
- Coverage: 75% of tuition fees, with a possible increase to 85% in the second year.
- Field of Study: Unrestricted; available for all Masterโs programs.
- Selection Criteria: Same as Avancez Scholarships, with 35 scholarships available for 2024.
#3. Sievert Larsson Scholarship
The Sievert Larsson Scholarship Fund (within Friends of Chalmers) offers 100% tuition fee waivers and living expenses awarded to students with citizenship from Thailand.
- Eligibility: Citizens of Thailand applying for Engineering Masterโs programs.
- Coverage: Two typesโfull tuition fee waiver or full tuition fee waiver plus 230,000 SEK for living expenses.
- Field of Study: All Engineering Masterโs programs except Architecture.
- Selection Criteria: Academic merit, financial need, and a strong personal letter.

#4. US Friends of Chalmers Scholarship
The scholarship is funded by US Friends of Chalmers and administrated by Chalmers, for studies on Engineering master’s programmes.
- Eligibility: US citizens applying for Masterโs programs (except Architecture).
- Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver.
- Field of Study: All Masterโs programs except Architecture and Urban Design and Architecture and Planning Beyond Sustainability.
- Selection Criteria: Same as IPOET and Avancez Scholarships.
#5. Adlerbert Foundations Scholarship
100% tuition fee waivers funded by the Adlerbert Foundations and administrated by Chalmers, for students who are citizens of one of 143 specified countries.
Four scholarships will be awarded in 2024 to students who are citizens of one of 143 countries (link below). The scholarship comprises a full tuition fee waiver and is funded by the Adlerbert Foundation.
- Eligibility: Citizens of 143 specified countries.
- Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver.
- Field of Study: Unrestricted; available for all Masterโs programs.
- Selection Criteria: Academic excellence and university ranking.
#6. WACQT Quantum Technology Scholarship
100% tuition fee waivers were founded by the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology (WACQT), with extra support from the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation through the EDU-WACQT program.
- Eligibility: Non-EU/EEA applicants for Masterโs in Physics or Nanotechnology.
- Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver.
- Field of Study: Physics and Nanotechnology, specifically within the Quantum Technology Track.
- Selection Criteria: Academic merit, motivation, and following the Quantum Technology Track curriculum.
#7. Volvo Group Scholarship
The scholarships include possibilities for internships during the summer, a final Master’s thesis project, mentorship, and possible employment at Volvo Group.
- Eligibility: Citizens of India and China applying for specific Engineering Masterโs programs.
- Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver, with possible internships, mentorships, and employment opportunities at Volvo Group.
- Field of Study: Mobility Engineering, Sustainable Electric Power Engineering and Electromobility, Software Engineering and Technology, Data Science & AI, and High-Performance Computer Systems.
- Selection Criteria: Academic excellence and university ranking.
#8. Chalmers MasterCard Scholarship
Awarded to a master’s programme applicant from Central or South America (including Mexico). A 280 000 SEK reduction of the tuition fees during the master’s programme (4 semesters/2 years).
The Chalmers MasterCard Scholarship is awarded biennially to a Master’s programme applicant from Central or South America (including Mexico).
Please note that you will not be able to apply for (select) this scholarship in the scholarship portal. Meanwhile, all eligible applicants who apply to the portal will be considered.
- Eligibility: Citizens of Central or South America (including Mexico).
- Coverage: 280,000 SEK reduction in tuition fees.
- Field of Study: Unrestricted; available for all Masterโs programs.
- Selection Criteria: Academic excellence and university ranking.

Scholarship applications will be processed when the corresponding online application for Master’s programmes at universityadmissions.se has been completed, including having submitted all the required documentation verifying your eligibility and having paid the application fee. Only applicants fulfilling the eligibility requirements for the Master’s programmes applied for will finally be considered for a scholarship.
