Tell Me About The Gates Cambridge Scholarship:
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship program for international students to pursue a master’s or PhD at the University of Cambridge in the UK. Established in October 2000 through a donation of US$ 210 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it is one of the most prestigious scholarships available for postgraduate study.

For the academic year 2025-2026, Gates Cambridge will offer 80 full-cost scholarships to exceptional candidates from outside the UK. Approximately two-thirds of these scholarships will be awarded to PhD students, with around 25 awards available in the US round and 55 in the international round.

The scholarship is available for all the postgraduate courses offered by the University of Cambridge, with the exception of:
- Any Undergraduate degree such as BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA)
- Business Doctorate (BusD)
- Master of Business (MBA)
- Master of Finance (MFin)
- PGCE
- MBBChir Clinical Studies
- MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time)
- Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
- Part-time degrees
- Non-degree courses

- The University Composition Fee at the appropriate rate.
- A maintenance allowance of £18,744 per annum for a single student.
- One economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course.
- Inbound visa costs and the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge.
- Academic development funding of up to £2,000 for attending conferences and courses.
- Family allowance of up to £15,612 for two or more children.
- Fieldwork funding to cover maintenance allowance while on fieldwork as part of your PhD.
- Maternity/Paternity funding for up to 6 months with maintenance allowance.
- Hardship funding for unforeseen difficulties.
How Long Will the Award Last?
- Two years for master’s programs.
- Three years for PhD programs, with a possibility of extension to four years.
