Call for Application for DAFI Scholarship Programme for Academic Year 2024/2025 in Rwanda

UNHCR’s Tertiary Refugee Scholarship Programme (DAFI) offers qualified refugee and returnee (in selected countries*) students the possibility to earn an undergraduate degree in their country of asylum or home country. The scholarship package varies from country to country and covers a range of costs, including tuition and study materials, food, transportation, and accommodation.

Applications are accepted from August 27, 2024, to September 15, 2024.

The DAFI Scholarship Programme, funded by UNHCR, provides qualified refugee and returnee students with the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree in their country of asylum or home country. The scholarship covers various costs such as tuition, study materials, food, transportation, and accommodation. It supports bachelor’s degrees and equivalent level qualifications, including accredited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.

• Bachelor’s degrees (ISCED level 6)
• Short-cycle tertiary education (ISCED level 5)
• Accredited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes

Type:

Fully funded scholarship covering tuition, study materials, food, transportation, and accommodation.

Who can Apply for the DAFI Scholarship Programme :

• Recognized refugees or asylum seekers living in Rwanda
• Applicants who have been accepted to a university in Rwanda
• Priority is given to those with excellent academic performance
• Only one family member per household can apply

• Primary criteria: Recognition as a refugee or asylum seeker in Rwanda, proof of university admission in Rwanda, and academic performance.
• Secondary criteria: Preference for female candidates and those with special needs education.

   • UNHCR Proof of registration
   • Official/certified high school diploma
   • University admission letter or proof of acceptance
   • Equivalence certificate from the Ministry of Education (optional)
3. Ensure all documents are uploaded by the deadline.
