The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) is hosting an essay competition for World Maritime Day 2020, with the theme “Navigating the future: safety first!” Furthermore, this competition aims to raise awareness about the many opportunities in the maritime sector and encourage Nigerian youths to consider careers in this field. World Maritime Day is celebrated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and member countries worldwide to highlight the importance of shipping safety, maritime security, the marine environment, and seafarers.

Who can Apply For The (NIMASA) World Maritime Day Essay Competition?

Also, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • This Special Category is open to students of Maritime Tertiary Institutions & Institutions with Maritime Departments
  • Participants are to scan bona fide proof of studentship alongside their essays. Proof should include letters of admission and identity cards of the institution.
  • Essays must be a maximum of 1200 words (+or-10%) double spaced in MS Word and font size 12 Plagiarism and the use of Al is not acceptable.
  • Essays should end with a name, telephone number and email address of the participant.
  • Essays that do not follow the guidelines will be disqualified
