In 2023, after partnering with Women in Film for the “Introduction to the Creative Process” program, AFAC and Netflix have launched a new initiative to support emerging Arab women filmmakers. The program is open to filmmakers from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt, and focuses on producing short films (up to 10 minutes) led by women in key roles such as director, writer, producer, cinematographer, and editor.
Furthermore, applicants can apply as teams with at least two heads of department (e.g., director and producer or writer and director), and up to five. Individual cinematographers and editors can also apply to join selected projects. However, applicants cannot submit both a team and individual application.

Additionally, selected film projects will receive up to $25,000 for production, covering prep, shooting, and post-production costs. The initiative also offers virtual consultations in areas like scriptwriting and directing, with post-production support provided in Saudi Arabia.
