The award provides a six-month annual training program in Iceland, hosted by the Agricultural University of Iceland, focusing on land restoration and sustainable land management. Ecosystem restoration, a critical theme in the African Biosphere Reserves Network, has become increasingly important with the launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). As the Man and the Biosphere program gears up for its 5th World Congress in 2025, restoration will play a vital role in addressing challenges like poverty, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
