UNESCO Training for African Scientists on Antimicrobial Resistance 2025

Under the umbrella of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD), UNESCO is partnering with Nitte University in India, specifically the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) Reference Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance and Aquaculture Biosecurity, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to support two African scientists in attending a hands-on training course from 18 to 22 of November 2024. This course focuses on understanding and combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a major global threat to both human and animal health.

Tell Me About The Award:

UNESCO, in partnership with Nitte University, the FAO Reference Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, offers sponsorship for two African scientists to attend a hands-on training course on understanding and mitigating antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This five-day course will be held from 18 to 22 November 2024, focusing on global health, food security, and sustainability.

Which Fields are Eligible?

Fields such as aquatic organism health management, aquaculture, microbiology, and informatics are eligible.

Type:

Sponsorship for hands-on training.

Who can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • Have an academic background and/or at least five years of relevant experience in any of the following fields: aquatic organism health management, aquaculture, microbiology and informatics; 
  • Be a national and resident of an African country; 
  • Be available for all the days of the training. 

In their applications, interested candidates should demonstrate how this course aligns with their research objectives and career development. 

How are Applicants Selected?

Applicants will be selected based on their academic background, relevance of experience, and how the course aligns with their research objectives and career development.

African countries.
