Tell Me About The CERC Migration Journalism Fellowship:
The CERC Migration Journalism Fellowship fosters collaboration between researchers and Canadian and international journalists to enhance the communication of evidence-based insights on migration and integration. This fellowship offers journalists across various media (digital, print, radio, or TV) a chance to engage with the latest migration research, conduct their own field research, and connect with experts. Journalists are encouraged to explore how journalism and research intersect, with no obligation to produce stories about TMU during or after their residency.

Who can Apply For The CERC Migration Journalism Fellowship?
Also, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The program is open to both staff and freelance journalists who regularly cover politics, society, culture, or the economy, with a focus on national or international issues.
- Applicants must have a minimum of five years of media work experience.
- Applicants should provide examples of their work that cover complex, international issues.
- The application should specify which areas of migration are of particular interest to the applicant.

- an optional recommendation letter from a supervisor/editor at a media outlet that has published or produced your work.

Additionally, applicants will benefit the following:
- a stipend, including a travel allowance, to contribute to expenses related to the stay for a total value of $4,000 CAD
- an academic host, selected from the CERC Migration research team
- access to an office space and resources that are available in the CERC Migration facility
- networking and professional development through participation in CERC Migration’s research events and workshops.
How Long Will the Award Last?
A successful Fellow would be expected to participate in a residency in Toronto for a consecutive period of 20 to 35 days between March 1 and November 30, 2025 (excluding July and August).
