Tell Me About The ESA African Research Fellowships 2024/2025:
The African Research Fellowship (ARF) program, initiated in 2021 by ESA in collaboration with the African Union Commission, seeks to empower African researchers with a PhD or Master’s degree and extensive research experience to engage in Earth Observation (EO) R&D activities that address key challenges in Africa.

Who can Apply For The ESA African Research Fellowships 2024/2025?
Also, applicants are to meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must hold a PhD or Master’s degree with substantial research experience.
- Proposals should focus on a one-year R&D project in either Water Resource Management or Food Security, utilizing Earth Observation satellite data.
- Projects addressing smallholder needs in agriculture or issues related to coastal processes and fisheries are especially encouraged.

Required Document:
- Research Proposal (see template) (max. 4MB)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of recent publications. Such document containing both the CV and publication list shall not be longer than 3 pages max (max. 2MB)
- 2 Reference letters (max. 2MB)
- Scan of PhD or Master Diploma (max. 1.5MB)
- Copy of ID, preferably Passport (max. 1.5MB)

- One-year fellowships for four African researchers to conduct their projects at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, alongside ESA scientists.
- Access to the EO AFRICA Space Academy and Digital Campus, providing training and scientific tools.
- Collaboration opportunities with European scientists through the EO AFRICA Innovation Lab.
- A chance to contribute to African and global environmental and development agendas by leveraging EO data to address critical challenges in Africa.
