The FRQNT master’s training scholarship for the French-speaking world aims to:
Master’s
Applicants must meet all eligibility conditions in effect at the time of submission of the application according to the program rules and the RGCs.
Aimed at French-speaking candidates who wish to undertake or continue a graduate-level university research program in a French-speaking university in Quebec, in the fields covered by the FRQNT.
Applicants who are not already present in Quebec are eligible.
To be considered “research” type, a master’s program must lead to the writing of a research dissertation (for example an essay, a research report, a dissertation or an article are not accepted). Professional-type master’s programs are not eligible.
3.1.1 Eligibility period
The candidate is eligible for a master’s training scholarship for the Francophonie during his first six semesters of master’s studies (or the equivalent).
To be eligible, the candidate must never have been enrolled in a master’s program and must plan to start their graduate program in Quebec between May 1, 2024 and January 15, 2025.
Applicants who apply for a scholarship to carry out preparatory studies are not eligible.
3.1.2 Exceptional measures
The Funds reserve the right to refuse any request for the application of insufficiently justified exceptional measures.
The rules relating to the eligibility period for training grants leave room for exceptional measures in circumstances beyond the control of the candidate, particularly in the case of serious illness, major family obligations or in a situation of disability. .
To be eligible for a master’s training scholarship for the Francophonie, one must hold the citizenship of a member country of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF). Applicants who hold Canadian citizenship must have their main residence in a Canadian province other than Quebec.
A continuous physical presence in Quebec is required for the entire duration of the funding, excluding break periods planned in the university calendar. Candidates for this scholarship who are not eligible for training outside Quebec when submitting the application will not be able to claim it while it is being awarded, even if their citizenship and domicile conditions change.

In the case of a career change, grades obtained in irrelevant diplomas are not considered. However, all diplomas serving as a basis for admission are considered relevant in the calculation of the average and must accompany the application.

The annual value of the master’s scholarship is $20,000 .
The maximum allocable amount is 6 payments (6 sessions) totaling $40,000.
Installation allowance supplement
The purpose of the installation allowance supplement is to make the installation of students in Québec financially accessible. The maximum value of this supplement is $6,000 for year 1 exclusively.
Supplement for health insurance and travel expenses
The FRQNT reimburses the cost of health insurance coverage offered by the university in Quebec up to a maximum of $1,000 per year as well as travel costs in economy class between the country of origin and Quebec (round trip) up to a maximum of $5,000.
The 2025-2026 electronic application form is made available on the Fund’s website and must be transmitted electronically no later than the Fund’s competition deadline.
The financing request must be written in French.

All required documents must be included in the application for it to be considered eligible. Documents that are illegible, of low resolution or do not allow the admissibility of the request to be made will be rejected.
Any official document submitted in a language other than French or English must be accompanied by a professional translation certified as true to the original. With regard to the language in which the form and the documents submitted are written, consult article 3.6 of the Common General Rules .
