Which Fields are Eligible? 

Eligible programs for the Master’s degree include:

  • Faculty of Forestry (Master of Sustainable Forest Management, Master of International Forestry, Master of Geomatics for Environmental Management)
  • Faculty of Land and Food Systems (Master of Food and Resource Economics, Master of Food Science, Master of Land and Water Systems)
  • Faculty of Science (Master of Data Science)

Who can Apply for the University of British Columbia MasterCard Scholarship? 

Applicants must:

  • Have completed a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Be 35 years old or younger.
  • Be citizens or refugees from Sub-Saharan African countries.
  • Demonstrate economic need, leadership qualities, and a commitment to giving back to their communities.
  • Require a Canadian study permit.
  • Commit to returning to Africa to apply their skills after completing their degree.

How are Applicants Selected? 

Selection is based on academic merit, leadership potential, demonstrated financial need, and a commitment to returning to Africa. Shortlisted candidates undergo a video interview, and final selections are made by a university-wide committee.
