Tell Me About The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship:
The Erasmus Mundus International Master of Sciences in Sustainable Drug Discovery (S-DISCO) Scholarship is a unique transdisciplinary program designed to address the increasing global challenges associated with medicine usage, including environmental impact and socio-economic inequalities. Jointly delivered by Ghent University, the University of Lille, the Medical University of Gdansk, and the University of Groningen, this program emphasizes sustainability throughout the entire drug discovery process, integrating environmental and socio-economic considerations. It equips students with a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical disciplines in the early discovery phases, supported by industry experts and academic institutions.

Who can Apply For the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship?
Also, applicants are to meet the following requirements:
Academic Degree:
- Candidates must hold a higher education diploma from a recognized authority, equivalent to a first cycle (180 ECTS or higher) in fields such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology (including Biochemistry), Bio-Engineering (including environmental, chemical, and food), Human or Veterinary Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields.
- Diplomas and transcripts must be legalized according to applicable procedures before final selection. If documents are not in Dutch, French, German, or English, applicants must provide translated scans by a sworn translator.
- Students in their final year of study will also be considered, but it is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain the required degree before starting the S-DISCO program.
English Language Proficiency:
- Since S-DISCO is taught in English, applicants must provide a certificate of English proficiency, with a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
- Certificates issued for English-taught courses or programs will not be accepted as proof of language proficiency.
Required documents:
Applicants are also to submit the following documents:
- A passport photo.
- A copy of the passport (or other official identification for EEA students).
- A motivation letter (maximum 1 page).
- A complete curriculum vitae (preferably in Europass format, maximum 3 pages).
- A copy of the Bachelor of Science diploma (with English translation) or a formal letter from the university confirming completion before enrollment in the S-DISCO program, plus a formal equivalency if required.
- An official university transcript of records (with English translation) detailing all courses taken, credit hours, results, final grades, grading system, and cohort rank, including ongoing courses and results up to the application date.
- Certification of English proficiency, with a minimum level of B2 according to the CEFR.
- A merged PDF file containing the bachelor’s degree, bachelor’s degree transcript of records, master’s degree (if applicable), master’s degree transcript of records (if applicable), motivation letter, and curriculum vitae, in that order.
A recommendation letter is no longer mandatory.
