Tell Me About The Amnesty International Graduate Governance Fellowship:
Amnesty International South Africa is offering a fellowship for early-career professionals passionate about NGO governance and human rights activism. This 11-month fellowship, running from January to November 2025, will provide hands-on experience working with the Board, Executive Director, and staff, using legal and policy skills to support governance tasks. The fellow will also gain exposure to Amnesty’s human rights partners through job-shadowing opportunities with legal firms or public interest law organizations.

- A law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) or any related degree.
- Fluency in two South African languages is recommended.

- Ability to interact with staff at all levels, and communicate clearly and concisely with

- Ability to write clearly and concisely (without the need for significant editorial revision)
- and to proof-read policy, research, campaign and advocacy materials – often under tight
- timeframes
- Ability to gather and process large amounts of legal and governance information

- Ability to accurately analyse issues and apply systematic reasoning to formulate a response
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work self-sufficiently with some
- guidance
- Willingness to travel
