The WISER “Women Involvement in Science and Engineering Research” program, organized by the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC), is designed to promote the participation of women researchers in ongoing R&D&I projects in India or Germany without needing to apply for fresh project grants. The program seeks to address the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields and aims to build scientific capacity and promote women researchers through international collaboration.

Who can Apply for the WISER Scholarships?
- Women researchers or entrepreneurs with a regular/long-term position in academic or research institutions or industrial research organizations in India or Germany.
- No age limit, but preference is given to early and mid-career researchers.
How are Applicants Selected?
Applicants are selected based on their qualifications and the alignment of their research interests with the ongoing R&D projects in partnering countries. Acceptance from the host research team is required.

Where will the Award be Taken?
The award allows for one research visit per year to the partner country, either India or Germany, with a stay of up to 1 month.

What is the Benefit of the Award?
- The award covers basic project assistance in the awardee’s home country, including research staff (only for Indian awardees), consumables, and contingencies.
- It includes a one-month research stay in the partner country each year, covering round-trip airfare, visa fees, medical insurance, and per diem.
- The maximum grant over three years is ₹39 lakhs (€48,000).
How Long Will the Award Last?
The program will last for three years or until the completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

Applications are accepted year-round, with a significant cut-off date for the next round being February 28, 2025. Applicants should ensure they have acceptance from the host team within the project they are joining.
