Managed by Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and coordinated by the Tempus Public Foundation, it operates through partnerships with over 90 countries. This scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and living costs for full and partial degree programs (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral) mostly in English, with options for other languages and a preparatory Hungarian language course. In 2024, over 66,000 applications were received, with nearly 4,500 scholarships awarded, highlighting the program’s commitment to international education and cultural exchange.

Who can Apply For The Fully Funded Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships for International Students in Hungary?

- All international applicants are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Hungarian citizens or individuals with dual nationality (including Hungary) are not eligible.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old by August 31, 2025.
- Students currently self-financing their studies in any Hungarian higher institution are not eligible.
- Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to reapply.

What is the Benefit of the Award?

For Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, and Non-Degree Programs:
- Tuition-free education: exemption from paying tuition fees.
- Monthly stipend: HUF 43,700 (approx. EUR 110) per month to support living expenses for 12 months each year, until studies are completed.
- Accommodation contribution: free dormitory placement or HUF 40,000/month toward accommodation costs throughout the scholarship period (note: in larger cities, such as Budapest, this amount may not fully cover rental costs if not living in a dormitory).
- Medical insurance: health care coverage under Hungarian law (Act LXXX of 1997) and additional medical insurance up to HUF 65,000 (approx. EUR 170) per year.
For Doctoral Programs:
- Tuition-free education: exemption from paying tuition fees.
- Monthly stipend:
- First phase (first 4 semesters): HUF 140,000 (approx. EUR 365) per month.
- Second phase (next 4 semesters): HUF 180,000 (approx. EUR 470) per month.
- Provided for 12 months each year, until completion of studies.
- Accommodation contribution: free dormitory placement or HUF 40,000/month toward accommodation costs (note: in larger cities, such as Budapest, this amount may not fully cover rental costs if not living in a dormitory).
